Your business is but one of many. If you don’t take strides to stand out from your nearest rivals, your potential customers are never going to consider you. The driving force behind your annual marketing plan needs to be increasing your visibility, and while a leaflet drop here and an email marketing campaign there are both useful, you can experience more success if you do something a little out of the ordinary.
Here are some suggestions that we hope you find useful.

#1: Put on an event
Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to spend a day away from the television? If you could put on an event that would attract people from your local community, you would have the opportunity to put your business on their radar. So, you might hold a fundraiser for a local charity. You could hold a launch event for an exciting new product. And you might want to throw a party to celebrate your business anniversary. These are just a few ideas, but you can probably think of your own reasons to hold a business event too. Be sure to hire an event production company to ensure success, and don’t forget to drop in plenty of verbal and visual hints about your product or service to your attendees.
#2: Show your charitable side
We have already alluded to this in the suggestion we made above, but there are other things you can do. So, you might volunteer some of your time (or that of your employees) to support a local charity. You could sponsor a local sports team. And you could invite local groups to your business premises, perhaps with the offer of training for the unemployed, or by allowing local causes to hold events within your building. By following any of these suggestions, people will get to hear about your business, be that directly or indirectly. Your charitable side might also give them cause to choose your business over your competitors.
#3: Get word of your business out in the media
We are, of course, talking about a positive word. Many business owners suffer because of a negative reputation spread by the local media, perhaps because they operate in less than ethical ways, so ensure you don’t fall prey to the same. Get word of your business out there because of the good that you do, perhaps by contacting your local newspaper to let them know of the charitable side of your business, and by inviting them to your business whenever you have something new to showcase. Of course, you can go beyond print media, as you might want to get word of our business on the airwaves too, and even pay for mentions on the relevant blogs and YouTube channels that have created by social influencers.
Finally
To succeed in business, you need to get word of your existence out there. So, above and beyond your usual marketing efforts, consider what else you might do to increase your visibility, perhaps by including the suggestions we have offered you here.
