There are numerous small changes that you can make to bad habits that will help to drastically improve your existing levels of productivity and efficiency. In turn, this enables you to complete more quality work in a shorter time frame. It will also minimize the amount of time spent on unnecessary tasks.

If your productivity is where it should be, looking at the happiness of your employees should be the first thing that you do, let’s have a look at some top tips in order to get the most out of your employees ensuring that productivity is increased:

Run Efficiently

You need to take a good look at how your business is currently operating and then be open to changing the way you are used to working. Just because something is familiar doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best way to proceed. It’s just as important to make long-term and short-term lists to work to, making sure you are prioritizing tasks, this is especially crucial for small businesses.

Think about the structure of your employees day, can it be improved? Often employees fail to achieve their daily goals because the structure of the day isn’t quite right. It’s a good idea to speak to your employees and ask them what could work better. Encourage them to make a plan and a list of all the daily activities they will need to complete in order to complete all the relevant tasks for each day, this will result in more efficient work.

Delegate Correctly

Delegation definitely comes with an element of risk, but offering increased responsibility is important for improving the job satisfaction and morale of your staff. Try giving responsibilities to the more qualified employees that have shown you a proven track record with a good success rate in certain areas. If you trust they can perform tasks well then you should be able to trust them to delegate correctly.

When you allow your employees the chance to build on their skills and leadership experience it will not only provide your employee with a sense of achievement but it will also benefit your company.

Minimize Distractions

Minimize Distractions

There can be a lot of distractions for your employees in the workplace and it can be a huge productivity killer. Things like social media play a huge role in this. However, having a no-phone policy isn’t motivational or practical. Allowing a little bit of breathing room and self-responsibility when it comes to phones and the internet can work wonders but improving productivity, but you do need to have some sort of rules in place. Try to encourage your employees to turn off their phones but allow them to take regular breaks and allow them to have their phone on if they’re expecting n important call. This will enable them to be more productive but also give them the freedom to use their phone if they need to. Another great way of helping with this is to allow your employees to give their work number to their next of kin and children’s school.

Provide The Right Tools And Equipment

Your business is never going to as productive as it can be until you have provided the right tools and equipment for the tasks at hand. This is important in order for them to perform their duties efficiently and on time. Have a look at websites such as https://www.rapidpsi.com/rapid-tooling/ for tools that you may need for your business to run smoothly.

Having high-quality software and equipment in an office space also makes a massive difference for your workforce and the way that your business is perceived.

Look After The Workplace Conditions

Look After The Workplace Conditions

It’s important to provide a comfortable working environment to get the most out of your staff. Providing a working temperature that is between 68 and 70 degrees F (20-21 C) is recommended to ensure you have the equipment in place to heat and cool the premises. Having an environment that is too cold or too hot can be a distraction from concentration. Make sure you have a service completed on the air conditioning and heating appliances each year and have an emergency number for ‘just in case’ moments.

Set Realistic Goals And Offer Support

One of the most common problems for a manager is the fact that they don’t have a clear, strong sense of whether their employees are performing or not. Would your employees benefit from an incentive in order to keep them on track? Or do they need a goal to work to? You need to be providing clear direction to any supervisors and employees if you want to to help clarify expectations. This will, in turn, help to increase their productivity, as they will have a clearer focus and clearer goals.

Practice Positive Reinforcement

If you’re not already you should be encouraging, motivating and rewarding your employees. Let them know if they have done a good job and provide constructive criticism. Offering incentives is a great way to do this. If they’ve done a good job maybe offer some vouchers, a hamper or an extra day off. You could also have an employee of the month or year award. If you motivate your employees they tend to work harder as they like to receive the rewards. You’ll soon find productivity at the top of their list as well as yours.
