Translating Your Online Presence

Translating Your Online PresenceMany people are now running an online business from their home. Whether they’re freelance or the CEO of a small company, they’re promoting their brand via the web. But little do they know that they need translator services for maximum outreach.

The beauty of the internet is that you can create a website for yourself with absolute ease: you can design a site to your liking and get selling you wares in no time. Not only do you receive traffic (or otherwise known as site visitors) from your local area, you also receive hits from people who reside in countries all around the world. This could be from Spain and France, but also Africa and Asia too. The world really is your oyster for your business. You also have the possibility of working all over the world. All you need is a good Internet connection, a travel keyboard, like Goldtouch travel keyboard, and a reliable laptop.

To utilize the opportunity of being able to communicate with anyone you’re going to need professional translation services to speak their language. It won’t be any use writing in plain English as not everyone will understand it. There’s Spanish, Italian, French, German, Flemish – and that’s just a few! There are roughly 6,500 of them in the entire world and in order for you to convert visitors into potential clients, your website will need translation to a language that they can read and understand.

Whether it’s a one-off blog post or all of the pages hosted on your website, let your online store become more universal with translation. After all, by employing translation services you’ll be able to profit from overseas customers who can easily read just how great your business really is.

An Insight Into Translation Accuracy

Japanese is a hard language to translate so it has to be done by professionals. Seeing as it’s spoken by over 125 million inhabitants of Japan and the other few million scattered around New York, London and Paris, it’s a language that’s spoken and written by millions. Though that doesn’t stop mishaps from happening.

Mistranslations happen from time to time. Though in Japan’s case, it seems to have completely changed the course of their cultural history. Let’s take a trip back to the 50s – and more specifically – Valentine’s Day in 1950s Japan. Chocolate companies wanted to share the joyous and romantic occasion overseas, so they started encouraging Japanese locals to start taking part in the usual tradition of giving chocolates to their beloved. Although the intention was good, there was a hiccup in the translation by one particular company. If only they had employed translation services.

They suggested that instead of it being a mutual show of affection, it was a tradition for women to give chocolate to men – but not for men to women. The company’s fault and miscommunication has actually set the precedence for Valentine’s Day over in Japan as the custom of women giving chocolate to men still continues to this very day. Perhaps it was carelessness or perhaps an honest mistake, but it’s just one of the many examples of how getting both spoken and written language wrong can have disastrous consequences. Don’t let your documents suffer the same poor translation – instead, contact professional and quality document translation professionals who can offer a quality translation.
