5 HR Tasks You Can Automate

Many HR tasks can be repetitive and time-consuming. Instead of carrying them out manually, it makes sense to automate these tasks. Below are just 5 HR tasks that are worth automating.

Paying employees

Automating your payroll could save you a lot of time and effort. It could also ensure that employees are always paid accurately and on time.

On top of processing wages, such software can deduct tax and benefit contributions, making sure that these are paid into the right accounts. Such software can also calculate hourly wages on top of salaries.

There are lots of different payroll software solutions on the market. Some are built for small businesses, while others are suitable for much larger businesses.

Tracking employee hours

Some companies still rely on manually clocking employee hours. This can lead to many inaccuracies compared to using digital time clocks. Digital time clocks can also be automatically linked up with payroll software so you don’t have to manually count up every employee’s hours and pay them accordingly.

Many companies now allow employees to digitally clock in using an app. It’s even possible to use cameras to automatically record when employees enter or exit a building.

Creating staff rotas

Creating weekly staff rotas can be time-consuming – especially with large teams of staff. Fortunately, it’s possible to also automate this process.

Rota automation software can automatically create rotas, taking into account employees’ available hours, their roles, and the demands of a certain shift. There are lots of specialist forms of rota software out there that you can choose from ranging from crew management software to hotel rota software. Do your research to find the appropriate application for you.

Screening applicant resumes

It’s also possible to use automation when screening applicant resumes. Such software can look for keywords and key phrases to determine whether an applicant is appropriate or not. This can be useful when processing hundreds or thousands of resumes.

There are several of these software solutions available on the market. It’s worth noting that applicant screening software should not be used to automate the entire applicant screening process – it’s better suited for simply narrowing down the pool of worthy candidates before manually screening each one.

Tracking employee benefits

Keeping track of employee vacation days, sick days, bonuses and other benefits can be a headache for many employers. Using the software, you can also automate this process. This could be used to automatically notify employees when they’ve still got vacation days to take or to flag up when employees are taking too much absence, as well as keeping track of things like health insurance contributions and retirement contributions.

There are software solutions out there suited for different types of business that allow different types of benefits packages. Some of these applications also allow employees to keep track of their benefits so that they know how much holiday they’ve got left or how much of a bonus they’re due.
