How To Improve Communications In A Hybrid Business Environment

Communication is an important part of any business because it helps keep employees and clients connected at all times. With a lack of communication, you’ll find that people end up operating on the wrong pages and not singing from the same hymn sheets.

Ultimately, that causes a lot of problems within the relationships and productivity of the company in general. Employees can find themselves frustrated with the lack of comms and that can cause dissatisfaction with work in general.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the ways in which we can improve communications in a hybrid business environment this year.

Table of Contents

  • Find the right tools for your communications
  • Make use of video calls to maintain that personable connection
  • Schedule regular check-ins with team members
  • Use office days as an opportunity for socializing
  • Provide your workers with a proper at-home setup

Find the right tools for your communications

There are plenty of tools out there that any business could take full advantage of, especially when it comes to team communications. Some of the best team apps are known for providing clarity in comms that wasn’t there before.

This is helpful, especially within a hybrid environment whereby you’re not always going to have everyone within the office that you need, all at the same time.

With the right application or tool available, it’ll help improve the communications that are needed within your teams.

Make use of video calls to maintain that personable connection

Video calls are always great for those who work remotely because it helps create that bit of connection with their colleagues or clients throughout the week.

Whether you’re in the office or working from home, video calls and conferences are still as important as they were during the pandemic. For hybrid working environments, they’re another form of communication worth having.

Schedule regular check-ins with team members

It’s important that you’re checking in with your team members regularly, especially when you’re operating in a workplace that doesn’t always have its staff on site.

Whether they work fully remotely from home or they come into the office three times a week, it’s worth scheduling a regular check-in with team members. Once a week or once every month is a great way to catch up with your staff to see how they are and what improvements might need to be made.

Use office days as an opportunity for socializing

For those days when a lot of staff will be in the office, use it as an opportunity for socializing. Maybe you could have an afternoon tea-style lunch break to bring together colleagues for catch-ups.

Have a social butterfly employee plan some social drinks or dinners after work might also go down well for team-building opportunities.

Provide your workers with a proper at-home setup

When it comes to your workers who are working from home, make sure they have the right setup. This is important because it helps ensure they’re working productively and in a healthy manner. Make sure they have a desk, computer chair anything else they may need to maintain their well-being.

Improving communications does wonders for any business, especially for many of those who’ve now embraced a more hybrid way of working in 2023. Make use of these tips for your own business this year.
