Here Are Some Tips On How To Keep Your Office Clean While Saving Time And Money Along The Way

Use A Cleaning Checklist & Schedule

An easy way to get your office cleaned is to create a cleaning checklist for each room in your establishment. Make sure to document everything from vacuuming carpets to emptying trash cans. If you’re unsure how often certain things should be done, think about what you would prefer others to do when using the space.

For example, a conference room should be cleaned after every meeting. Once you’ve created your cleaning checklist, schedule a day and time for each task to be completed. Finally, you can hire an outside commercial cleaning services company to take care of the office cleanings.

Designate A Cleaning Supplies Area

Don’t make your employees search around the office looking for a mop or broom when they need materials to clean up a spill. Instead, designate an area where cleaning supplies are kept. It is recommended that all surfaces in this area are non-porous and easy to wipe down with disinfectant or detergent. Keeping your supplies organized will also help prevent clutter from piling up in the designated space.

Create A Recycling Bin

An easy way to promote cleanliness is to create a recycling bin where employees can dispose of their papers and other materials. Many companies will arrange for the recycling bin to be emptied on a daily or weekly basis, minimizing clutter. If you aren’t able to get your office space arranged in such a manner, offer an incentive for employees who recycle by placing a wastebasket closer to the designated area they need to go. In most cases, this solution will encourage more people to recycle.

Keep A Supply Of Cleaning Supplies Nearby

If you have any spills or messes that need immediate attention, keep cleaning supplies nearby, so your employees don’t have far to walk when heading back from break or changing tasks. Keeping a supply of cleaning supplies in the break room is a good practice, as employees will likely have to use this area multiple times per day.

Create A ‘No Food Or Drink’ Policy For Offices

A clean office environment also requires that your employees follow a ‘no food or drink’ policy when it comes to their work area. This means that no beverages with spills should be consumed within five feet of any computer equipment, and all employees must ask permission before consuming any snacks at their desks. If there are certain areas where these policies can be relaxed, such as conference rooms or training rooms, make sure they are clearly marked by signs on the door or wall.

Organize Cords And Wires

As most office equipment relies on electricity, cords and wires are not only unsightly, but they can be dangerous if left in disarray. Keeping cords and wires organized will reduce the chance that employees trip over them or find them wrapped around their ankles while allowing for quick disconnects in emergency situations when you need to shut down your computer equipment.
