Avoid Purchasing Emails Addressess

There are some companies who will try to convince you that buying or renting lists of people’s emails is a great tactic but it is not. It goes against your Terms of Service for all your email service provider. In addition to that, and more importantly, there is no organic connection. Those people do not know you, so there is a high chance that they will mark emails from you as spam. That will put all your money and efforts to waste. But regardless of how you got your email addresses, whether purchases or collected, you’re still going to want to make sure that they work and that nothing bounces back to you (which is super annoying), so you could use a service like https://www.zerobounce.net/ to entirely avoid a situation like that. This is just one option, but you really don’t want to waste your time sending out newsletters only to find that they all bounce back. So, every email marketing campaign needs to have this.

Avoid Using All Caps In The Subject Line Or The Body

Writing your subject lines in all caps may seem like a good way to get someone’s attention, but the very opposite is true. It comes off as rude and pushy. All-capped subject lines are also automatically perceived as spam, if not from the email provider than from the person themselves. If you are looking for ways to grab someone’s attention, the best way to do that is to personalize the email. While we are on the topic of subject lines, you should also avoid using exclamation marks in your subject lines.\

Stay Away From Using Video, Flash Or Javascript In Your Emails

It is highly likely that most email providers do not allow the its users to view emails with rich media, therefore it may automatically be perceived as spam by the system. Instead of using Flash or video embeds, utilize an image of your video player with a button that when clicked will link to the video on a web page.

Avoid Using Red Font When Drafting Your Emails

Using uncommon font, text size and text colors is a quick way to turn someone off from reading your emails. Not to mention red or white font are seen as a red flag for most spam filters, so your email may wind up in the spam folder. Make sure all your fonts are one size as well as the font colors being one color.

Do Not Include Attachments In Your Emails

As an email marketer, nine times out of ten you may not know who you are emailing on a personal level. The moment you send an email with an attachment, the spam filter will flag it and it will be put into the spam folder. If you need to send your clients those attachments, upload them to your website and link them to the file in that new location instead.
