5 Tips For Designing A Product LabelAs logos can be powerful for getting a brand known, the same can also be said about a product label. If you have a business and you’re selling a physical item, you’re most likely going to need a product label. This can include food, clothes, candles, and books, but it can go far beyond just these items. Plus, changing your product label can also help turn your business around. Seriously, the graphic design of your brand and your product labels are intertwined, and they matter! So, here are some helpful tips for designing the perfect product label for your goods!

Table of Contents

  • Make sure the product label is appealing and easy to read
  • Make sure the colors are bright and appealing on the product label
  • Make sure the font is legible
  • Keep your product labels short and sweet
  • Keep your product labels consistent in color and style

Make sure the product label is appealing and easy to read

When you walk into your local grocery store, you’re bombarded with different products. You might be wondering how to identify the best product for your needs, whether it’s a health or beauty product. Before creating your product label, why not do market research and see what draws your eye? Proper tags are necessary for products to inform consumers about their contents and make them easy to understand. Labels should be easily readable and contain various information such as ingredients, nutritional information, ingredient sources, use by date, etc.

One can also use symbols to represent different foods, such as vegetarian, gluten-free, etc., which will help customers make informed choices. Many people have experienced difficulty reading the labels on products due to the use of fonts and colors. This is why many jurisdictions have strict regulations requiring products’ labeling to be easy to read. So, if you want to ensure that you have a high chance of getting a good product label, maybe consider the type of label, such as direct thermal labels, and also think about what will go on the label.

Make sure the colors are bright and appealing on the product label

The color of a product label can decide whether or not a customer purchases the product. Research shows that many people base their purchase decision on the first impression they get from viewing a product’s packaging. The color of a label can also affect perceptions about a product’s quality and value. Having bright and appealing colors on one’s brand would be wise for selling the item. Plus, more generations, such as Gen Z, like to make purchases based on “aesthetics,” so this should be taken into account too.

Make sure the font is legible

The font on the product label should be easy to read and legible. This is because the customer should be able to read the label without difficulty. The font color should contrast with the background, so it is easy to spot. Font size needs to be large enough for people with poor eyesight but small enough that it does not obstruct other text on the label. Your best choices would be Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana, or Calibri, as they are all fonts that are easy enough for all people to read. However, if you opt-in to hire a graphic designer, then you will have a better shot at having something easy to read that is also going to look aesthetically appealing (from other kinds of font).

Keep your product labels short and sweet

Influential product labels are a must. It’s vital that they provide all the information that the customer needs to make a decision. But, these days, customers want instant gratification and don’t have time to sit there reading through long sentences of text. They want simplified, concise labels with no extra fluff or unnecessary information. So, keep this short, sweet, and to the point but ensure that you have a webpage that contains all the needed info about the product or has a paper attached with information such as directions.

Keep your product labels consistent in color and style

The packaging and labeling of a product are critical elements to its marketing success. Unclear, illegible labels can lead to customers not understanding what it is or what it does, ultimately leading to lost sales Differentiating your product labels in a world of sameness can be difficult. Regulations may require you to use a certain set of colors and styles, but there are many ways to make your brand stand out.

From choosing the right color palette to picking fonts that match your business name, it’s easy to create a design that conveys the uniqueness of your company’s products. So, one thing to do is keep your labels consistent in color and style to help customers relate to your product.
